Make face masks

Can you work with a sewing machine and do you want to help making face masks? 

Do you have your own sewing machine, and can you get started at home? 

  • Please visit www.makefacemasks.com and download the pattern and guidelines. 
  • Always wash your hands thoroughly before you begin. 
  • You can store a pile of finished face masks in a hermetically sealable bag (e.g. freezer bags). 
  • Please drop the face masks off at our community centres (locations below) but make an appointment first (see contact below).

Do you have your own sewing machine but not the necessary materials? 

  • At pre-agreed times, you can pick up ready-made packages at our locations below.
  • You can start working at home.
  • Please return the finished face masks to these same locations. 

Would you like to come and sew at a community centre? 

We will create a hygienic workspace for you with all the necessary materials present. We will naturally take account of the current safety directions.

Please contact Sheela (see contact details below). She will draw up the schedule and ensure that all the materials are present at the community centre. We only work by appointment so we can guarantee the distance between the volunteers.

Profile of the volunteer

  • You can handle a sewing machine. 
  • You don’t show any signs of disease: runny nose, cough, fever ... 
  • Are you getting ill, or is someone in your vicinity? Please cancel your appointment and be sure not to come and work. 
  • You strictly observe all the corona precautions.

Insurance for volunteers

Register on the website of 'Vlaanderen helpt' (site in Dutch) to get a free insurance for volunteers. You'll receive a confirmation.This way, you are insured for civil liability, legal aid and physical damage.
