Get to know "Service Learning"
Service-learning is an educational approach in which the central concepts are ‘serving’, ‘reflecting’ and ‘learning’. Students serve society by engaging themselves to a specific community. Meanwhile, they reflect in a structured and critical way on their experiences. In this way, they learn on an academic, civic, and personal level.
Would you like to take up a civic engagement during your studies? You can! During the academic year 2020-2021, the KU Leuven will offer 25 service-learning courses, spread over 4 campuses and 11 faculties.
Service-learning is an integral part of the curriculum and is therefore credit-based. Students in service-learning 'serve' the society by engaging themselves in a specific community or by dedicating themselves to a specific societal problem. This takes place through a close collaboration with non profit/social profit organizations.
In this online info session, we will give you more information about the practice and societal impact of service-learning. You will also learn whether you can take up a service-learning course or apply for one in your study programme.
