Do groceries, go to a pharmacy or a post office

Many Leuven citizens are home alone and unable to do groceries, go to a pharmacy, a post office or mailbox.


Do you want to volunteer to do groceries for someone in your neighbourhood? 

  • You will receive a grocery list by phone or email.
  • Contact your match to make clear agreements on brands, shops and how to settle the bill.
  • You deliver the groceries at the front door
  • You strictly observe the hygienic directions: wash hands, keep a safe distance, cough in your elbow cavity...  

Do you want to volunteer to collect medication at a pharmacy in your neighbourhood?

  • You contact your match to make clear agreements on brands, prescriptions, what pharmacy to got to and on how to settle the bill.
  • You deliver the medication at the front door.
  • You preferably collect the medication from the patient's regular pharmacy in order to ensure continuity for chronic medication. The pharmacist will know the patient personally and is best suited to decide what non-prescription medication to give.
  • Inform the pharmacist that you are a volunteer in the "Leuven Helpt' network. 
  • You strictly observe the hygienic directions: wash hands, keep a safe distance, cough in your elbow cavity... 

Do you want to volunteer to go to a post office or mailbox, post a letter or collect something from the post office?

  • You contact your match to make clear agreements on identification, timing and any possible expenses.
  • You deliver the postal items at the front door. 
  • You strictly observe the hygienic directions: wash hands, keep a safe distance, cough in your elbow cavity... 


After you sign up, the City will match you with someone in your neighbourhood and provide you with their contact information.


Specific equipment required

You have a car or a carrier cycle to transport the groceries with.


Volunteer profile

  • You are between 16 and 60 years old
  • You are in good general health
  • You are not ill: no runny nose/cough/sore throat/fever... 
  • You have not been in any risk areas
  • You have not had any contact with people who have recently been in a risk area
  • You are not pregnant
